A BBC Panorama programme filmed in Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire has highlighted the continuing problem of child labour in the cocoa industry. Ten years on from the announcement of the Harkin Engel Protocol, which stipulated the need for rigorous self-regulation of the industry to prevent the worst forms of child labour in the supply chain, sadly little progress has been made.
